Until June : 'Sound Of Defeat'

Released: Out Now!!!
Label: Authentik Artists
With astounding beauty and and grace, Sound Of Defeat is an EP to marvel at. Brimming with intelligent song writing and mellow rhythms, it provides a clear indication of Until June's inescapable talents.
Each track proves to be a slice of minimalist gold. Marvellous piano melodies form a smooth musical basis throughout, with the stunning “Nobody Knows You” a perfect example of Josh Ballard's ability on the keys. Add to that his soaring falsetto that sweeps throughout the melody, and the track becomes one filled with technical ability and intense emotion.
Yet far from being impartial lift music, there are well placed moments that raise the tempo perfectly. Title track “Sound Of Defeat” proves a more rapid number, with swift guitaring and another impassioned vocal performance lending conviction and impetus. Couple that with the glorious ballad “Baby (Hope You Understand)”, it's sturdy drumming and silky melody meandering at a perfect pace, and you have a collection of tracks with many things to offer.
A taste of success is demonstrated with “The Man Who Lost His Soul”, soon to feature on American television. Yet despite it's acclaim it feels lifeless and bare, easily making it the weakest of the six.
Yet such a minor hiccup cannot derail what is in all a fantastic album. With versatility, passion and stunning ability Until June have created a snippet of genius, something that will no doubt propel them to wider appreciation very soon.
