Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...

The Stone Roses : 'Elephant Stone' (Re-Release)

The Stone Roses : 'Elephant Stone' (Re-Release)

Release Date : 6th July 2009

Label: Sony

John Squire’s eerie and psychedelic guitar sounds open the classic single which rapidly evolves into a glorious melody driven indie anthem. The Stone Roses are internationally known for their eloquent song writing whilst maintaining a rock and roll image. A balance which is frequently missing in many of today’s indie / rock bands who are much more moulded towards the mainstream.

The B-side ‘The Hardest Thing In The World’ is another example why The Stone Roses are so highly acclaimed by the peers and fans alike. This track is more of singalong late 80’s love in with Ian Brown’s unique vocals shining over upbeat rhythms which perfectly reflects the iconic ironic baggy scene.

'Elephant Stone' was originally released in 1988 on Silverstone Records and is the first of five singles to be re-released in the lead up to the re-issue of their seminal self titled debut album. For a complete update and a list of all their collectables please visit:
